Craftsmanship and tradition in a digital world.
Copeman Hart is compared to highly desirable and exclusive cars by organ enthusiasts: the organs are custom built down to the very last note. Whether it concerns the stoplist, the layout of the drawstops, the position of the thumb pistons, the style and color of the console: each detail is decided upon in consultation with the customer.
Copeman Hart, established in 1960, enjoys an international reputation for its custom built church organs with a typical English sound and appearance. There is not a collection of organ series but a dedication to seeing your organ dream being built into a magnificent reality.

Hybrid Organs

Clarity is delighted to be offering consultation and design services, in partnership with renowned pipe organ builders, for digital hybrid organs.
There are many traditional pipe organs in New  Zealand that can not be repaired due to ongoing high costs. The option to transform them into a hybrid organ saves the instrument from demolition, giving it a new lease of life for many more years to come. Clarity can work with any of our four brands, Rodgers, Johannus, Makin and Copeman Hart, to design a hybrid organ from their collections. See below for brand info.

A hybrid organ unites a new or existing pipe organ with a digital organ in a brilliant partnership enjoyed by thousands of houses of worship worldwide. The marriage of acoustic winded pipes with state-of-the-art digital sound transforms aging or limited pipe organs into instruments of great beauty and flexibility. Hybrid digital organs offer a far greater selection and diversity of sound than most acoustic-only instruments, with enormous savings in the cost of purchase and maintenance.

Hybrid organs offer a far greater selection and diversity of sound then most acoustic-only instruments, with enormous savings in purchase and maintenance costs. With a Rodgers console and Rodgers Pipe Integration (PIM) system, new pipes can be added, or existing pipes can be preserved or enhanced while perfectly matching the ranks using Rodgers' digital tonal finishing and auto-tuning technologies.
As a result, Rodgers digital organ sounds are virtually indistinguishable from the sounds coming from winded pipes. An ideal solution for churches with an aging or limited pipe instrument, but also for churches looking to get the most out of their organ.

Picture

Rodgers Pipe Integration Manager (PIM) is a simple yet sophisticated tool that allows for a seamless connection of a Rodgers console to the pipe drivers which in turn control your pipes.
The PIM is field programmable, easily interfacing to any amount of pipework and versatile enough to make changes as needed or desired. After creating or modifying the configuration file, which is usually done via a computer file, it can be loaded into the organ via USB drive and the changes take effect instantly. Stops can be configured as expressed or unexpressed, and all stops can be tonally finished note by note on site.

With Hybrid Organ Solutions, Johannus provides the advanced technology necessary to literally merge the worlds of the digital and pipe organ. Johannus is a world leader when it comes to building what are known as combination organs. The combination organ, as the name indicates, is a combined pipe and digital organ. This might entail, for example, replacing an outdated console with a digital one (often at a lower price). Adding extra digital stops to the pipe organ stoplist is also an option. Adding digital components or using them to replace outdated components is an affordable and durable alternative.

The six pros of Hybrid Organ Solutions
  • Combining the romance of the pipe organ with the technical potential of a digital console and digital stops always ensures higher quality.
  • Adding a digital console and digital stops costs less than traditional pipe organ restoration or expansion.
  • Digital stops stay truer to tone and are unaffected by fluctuating temperatures in the church building.
  • If desired, a hybrid organ can also be enriched by adding such stops as a piano, trumpet or orchestral stops. Adding a 64-foot stop is also a possibility.
  • A digital console eliminates the need for expensive maintenance and tune-ups in the long run.
  • Digital components in a pipe organ are easy to update and can be replaced at relatively reasonable rates.
Hybrid Organ Solutions is actually a collective title for four specific hybrid solutions. The solution chosen depends on the specific circumstances and wishes.

Clarity's organ specialist

Clarity Director, Mark Patterson, has enjoyed a life long love affair with the pipe, digital and now the new hybrid organs! Mark began playing the pipe organ from six years of age and from age 11 to 17 he built a full pipe organ in his home! At 12 he was awarded a music scholarship to Christs College Canterbury, and later became the organ scholar at Christchurch Cathedral.

As an adult who has toured nationally and played for many years in many church venues, Mark has got up close and personal with the workings of the organ. This has been through working with the South Island Organ Company and Ralph Cullen of Keyboard Music Systems, over many years on organ repairs, tuning and more. Due to Mark's specialist skills he was tasked with his most unusual project to date - bringing down the remnants of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament's 1878 organ, which was damaged during the earthquakes.

Mark combines his intimate knowledge of the instrument as player and technician, and his niche understanding of church acoustics, to provide previous Keyboard Music Systems customers and new customers with the expertise they deserve in all organ and audio visual needs.
